THE PUBLIC RECORD
In 2017, Doug McInvale joined the West Point Band for “My Old Man.” The performance reached Major Paul Lushenko during a deployment with the 75th Ranger Regiment and became part of his family’s story. These independent sources preserve the public record; their original media remains with the publishers.
The West Point Association of Graduates feature documents the performance, its reach, and the connection between Doug McInvale and Paul Lushenko.
Major Paul Lushenko tells the 4:09 story of how the song inspired him to reconnect with his father.
The West Point Center for Oral History preserves the longer account of music connecting a deployed military family across the globe.
Rights note: these third-party articles and videos are linked in their official players; Six Pack does not claim ownership of the publishers’ media.
